Glass Fiber Reinforced Nylon PA6 compounds are high-performance engineering plastics designed to replace traditional metal in demanding automotive applications. Specifically formulated for engine covers, these compounds combine the toughness of nylon with the structural reinforcement of glass fibers, delivering outstanding strength, rigidity, and dimensional stability under high-temperature engine environments. Compared with standard nylon, this grade maintains performance even when exposed to continuous operating temperatures of 120–150°C, making it an ideal choice for modern lightweight automotive designs.
Engine covers made from GF-reinforced PA6 not only protect critical engine components from dust, debris, and mechanical impact but also reduce overall vehicle weight, improving fuel efficiency and lowering emissions.

Notes: The general guidelines are only for reference. Exact settings have to follow the product and machine conditions.
Avoid contact with other materials, dust and debris in the injection processing.
Avoid long time stay in the barrel in the injection processing.
Pre-dry granules at 80–100°C for 3–4 hours before injection molding to prevent surface defects caused by moisture.
Ensure proper wall thickness and ribbing in design to maximize mechanical performance.
For engine compartments exposed to UV light through ventilation openings, UV-stabilized grades should be selected.
Avoid continuous exposure to strong acids or alkalis, which may degrade mechanical performance.
Confirm compliance with automotive standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949, UL 94) for safety-critical components.
High Strength & Rigidity: Glass fiber reinforcement boosts tensile and flexural strength up to 2–3 times compared to unfilled nylon.
Excellent Heat Resistance: Maintains structural stability under 120–150°C continuous heat load.
Dimensional Stability: Low shrinkage and warpage even in complex, large-size parts like engine covers.
Lightweight Alternative to Metals: Reduces vehicle weight and enhances fuel economy.
Good Acoustic Damping: Reduces engine noise transmission, contributing to cabin comfort.
Color & Finish Options: Available in black (standard automotive grade), grey, or customized colors with matte or textured surface finishes.
Glass fibers within the nylon matrix create a reinforcing skeleton, enhancing load-bearing capacity and resistance to creep at elevated temperatures. This synergy between nylon’s inherent toughness and glass fiber’s rigidity ensures long-lasting protection for critical automotive systems.
Applications include:
Engine covers (primary use)
Timing belt covers
Under-the-hood housings (battery cases, air intake manifolds)
Other automotive structural parts requiring heat resistance + durability
